和 Google 地图的室内导航功能不同，Meridian是 一个支持 DIY 的室内导航平台。所有商户 / 开发者都可以在 Meridian 的平台上，利用 Meridian 提供地简易地图编辑工具为自己的商场，公园、会展中心等大型场所开发室内导航应用。与 Google 单独主导地图更新的做法相反，Meridian 把地图编制的所有权交给了有需求的用户，加强了商用用户对自身位置内容的控制力。

而在近日，Meridian 平台又为开发者的室内导航应用增加了一项新福利——Zones 地理围栏功能。这项功能允许用户在开发者推出的室内地图 App 上随意用多边形圈区域，而当用户真正到达这些区域时，app 会立马推送通知。

除了 Meridian，国外还有几家地理围栏平台，比如PlaceCast、Digby Localpoint、 Wifarer和ShopKick 。和上述几家最大的不同是，Meridian 是通过 Wifi 传感而非 GPS 定位。

我们知道室内导航不比室外，GPS 信号较弱，Wifi 信号较强。如何使用 Wifi 信号进行定位事实上一直是室内导航的一大难点。而 Meridian 的市场推广部副总裁 Jeff Hardison 则表示，他家通过独有的“酱汁和配方”实现了这一技术，精度在 10 英尺左右。

另外，Hardison 还表示，在未来几个月内他们会推出 Zones 平台的 SDK，届时那些没在 Meridian 平台开发的室内导航 App 也可以拥有 Meridian 基于 Wifi 的地理围栏功能了。

除了做室内导航，Meridian 更大的野心是做基于地理位置的内容管理系统（CMS）。一个地点除了包含地理位置信息之外，还有很多额外信息，比如交通指南、消费优惠、名胜介绍，这些信息都是可以聚合在地图上的。这就是基于地理位置的 CMS。而 Meridian 在尝试为纽约地铁里的艺术作品做导航之后，在去年 3 月正式宣布了其做 CMS 的野心。

为什么要从Google Map Android API迁移到MapABC Map Android API？
答：MapABC Android API 实现了 Google Android API的所有功能，并在
Google Android API 的基础上做了功能扩展和本土化工作。如：POI搜索，路劲规
划，周边搜索，实时交通信息等。同时MapABCAndroid API还支持基站和WiFi
定位等。
另：Google 已退出中国市场，到目前为止还没有获得在中国从事互联网服务的
资质，存在若干不确定因素 。
问题2：
如何从Google Map Android API迁移到 MapABC Map Android API？
答：MapABC Android API 兼容 Google Map Android API，其迁移过程比
较简单。具体步骤如下：
1.在 http://code.mapabc.com/ 上下载程序包（如 V5.0Beta 程序包）。如下图
2.在 http://code.mapabc.com/key_mobile.shtml 上申请MapABC移动版Key
3.在 Eclipse下新建一个Android Project (在选择 Build Target 时不必选择 Google APIs，选择普通 android X.X就可以)。
4. 在新建的android Project 上导入 MapABC API 开发包
项目右键 Build Path Configure Build Path…
 

 

5.将基于Google Android API 的项目源码转移到新建的Android Project项目中。

6.将项目中 com.google.android.maps 替换为 com.mapabc.mapapi

7.将res/layout下用到 MapView的com.google.android.maps.MapView替换为com.mapabc.mapapi.MapView,同时将android:apiKey 替换为新申请的MapABC key。
8.测试APP功能是否正常。
9.打包项目生成APK（调试和正式发布的MapABC key 可以是同一个）。
10.迁移完毕.

Google Maps just went indoors. Starting with Google Maps 6.0 for Android, users of Google Maps can now navigate inside of mapped locations such as airports, malls and IKEA stores. The program launches with selected partners, and any business owner can apply to have a floor plan included.

This is a key move for Google’s mobile business, which up until now could only take you to the front door of the place for which you were searching. Google Maps on the desktop recently got 3D photo tours of small locations, an extension of Street View, but this is a bigger step. When Google Maps goes inside, Google can take you all the way from searching for something to holding it in your hand, advertising and data-gathering all the way.
